MXNA-ed!

I’ve been meaning to blog about so many things since my previous post, but my to do list’s tasks keeps piling up! THIS NEWS, however, takes precedence over the rest! :D

MXNA has kindly added my blog to their list of aggregated blogs under the Flash and Flex categories!

Alright, announcement over, now back to work… :P

Learning ActionScript 3.0

IMO, ActionScript 3.0 seems like another language altogether, as the similarities with ActionScript 1/2 are not that much at all. Developers may have a tough time to learn (I had my own mental block a while ago), and to designers, it seems nearly impossible to start grasping this new powerful, yet daunting to learn language. :(

The community has been great though. With reference to Guy Watson aka FlashGuru’s post on ActionScript 3 Resources, Trevor McCauley aka Senocular has written a couple of very useful materials to start learning AS3. They’re definitely a great help over the last few days of AS3 development as I’ve referred to them CONSTANTLY. :D

I definitely recommend getting Colin Moock’s book on Essential ActionScript 3.0!

August is Coding Monkey Month!

Coding Monkey Caught At Work! For the last couple of weeks, I’ve immersed myself in the studies of what’s the latest stuff surrounding the Flash Platform. Got myself (pretty) wet as well by playing with Papervision3D, learning the new and powerful ActionScript 3, looking around tweening engines which are AS3 compliant, among many many other fun stuff.

Amidst all this fun, I came to realise that I’ve actually neglected my work! :( Other than fixing bugs and making minor enhancements, I have yet to create any ground breaking features which I can be proud of.

Starting August (it’s already the 2nd!), it’s the Coding Monkey Month (CMM)! Don’t bother googling, I made this up. :D In its essence, coding is what I do, chosen monkey because it sounded lame and I need my dosage of acting silly, and yeah, for a month! I’ve got a pretty tight schedule lined up for the weeks to come, and I’m pretty confident that these new stuff will push the experience of using VelvetPuffin to the next level.

I can’t wait to begin! hoo-hoo-hoo!
